Commencement of 3 North-South expressway projects

Three North-South expressway projects including section Mai Son - Highway 45, Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet, Phan Thiet - Dau Giay were started today.

On the morning of September 30, the Ministry of Transport cooperated with the People's Committees of Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Binh Thuan and Dong Nai provinces to start the Mai Son expressway project - Highway 45 in Ha Long commune, Ha Trung district, Thanh province. Chemistry; Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet project in Vinh Hao commune, Tuy Phong district, Binh Thuan province and Phan Thiet - Dau Giay project in Hang Gon commune, Long Khanh city, Dong Nai province.

These projects are invested by the State budget, expected to be completed and put into operation by the end of 2022.

According to Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Ngoc Dong, in recent years, Highway 1 has been expanded with the scale of 4 lanes to meet the needs of transport, contributing to socio-economic development of many provinces. However, National Highway 1 goes through densely populated areas, the average speed of operation is only about 40-60 km / h. In addition, this route still has mixed lanes for motorbikes and rudimentary vehicles, thus potentially unsafe for traffic.

The North-South Expressway, when put into operation, is expected to solve all the limitations of the existing National Highway 1. The expressway has a design speed of 80-120 km / h with different levels of intersections, without a mixture of rudimentary vehicles, motorbikes will increase traffic capacity for cars.

The projects will step by step form a modern, safe, high-speed, modern North-South-East expressway, meeting transportation needs; connecting economic and political centers, especially three key economic regions, completing synchronous transport infrastructure.

Mai Son project - Highway 45 going through Ninh Binh and Thanh Hoa provinces is 63 km long. The starting point of the route is at the intersection with provincial road 477, in Yen Mo district, Ninh Binh province. The end point is at the intersection with Nghi Son - Tho Xuan street, in Nong Cong district, Thanh Hoa province.

Phase 1, this project is built 4 lanes with design speed of 80 km / h, total investment is 12,111 billion. The complete phase will build 6 lanes with a design speed of 120 km / h.

Project Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet going through Binh Thuan province, 100 km long. The first point is at the intersection of Vinh Hao, in Vinh Hao commune, Tuy Phong district, Binh Thuan province. The last point is at Ham Kiem commune, Ham Thuan Nam district, Binh Thuan province.

Phase 1 of phase 1 with 4 lanes, design speed 80 km / h. The total investment in the phasing phase is 10,850 billion VND, in which construction and equipment costs 7,210 billion VND. Completed construction phase of 6 lanes, design speed 120 km / h.

The Phan Thiet - Dau Giay expressway project goes through Binh Thuan and Dong Nai provinces, 99 km long. The starting point is at the route connecting National Highway 1A to My Thanh, the ending point connects with Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway. Phase 1 project with 4 lanes, designed 120 km / h, total investment is 12,570 billion. The completed phase has a size of 6 lanes.
